.: Saturn

Mythologically speaking, Saturn
is the Old Father Time, or The Reaper. In the Roman and Greek ages,
Saturn was considered to be the god of social order. He was depicted
as the harvester holding a sickle, the symbol of what we reap is
what we sow. Saturn is the representation of perfect justice and
the law of cause and effect.
Saturn symbolizes the wise old man or the teacher. He shows us that
by accepting the responsibility and discipline of self-realization,
we become older and wiser. The hard work and training taught by
Saturn shows us that it's all worthwhile. Saturn balances the expansiveness
of Jupiter and maintains order. However, Saturn's limiting influence
can bring about pessimism, fear, and too much seriousness.
Definition, form and structure are the desires of Saturn. Boundaries
are created to produce control, regulation and security. Saturn
symbolizes anything hard about us, from our bones and teeth to the
times that we must be "hard" with ourselves, and face up to our
duties. The lessons are sometimes unpleasant and uncomfortable.
Above all else, Saturn is fair and just. Whatever work we put into
something will be repaid exactly. Saturn gives us the determination
and perseverance to succeed. The sign of Capricorn is ruled by Saturn.
